The goals of the Lyceum are

  • The study, scientific recording, strengthening and preservation of Greek customs and traditions, popular culture in general within the context of our national life.
  • The exaltation of the Greek woman, the moral support for the mother and the child, the equality and equality of the sexes.
  • The promotion of volunteering, and social solidarity as well as the general provision of community benefit work.

The means to achieve its purpose are:

– The scientific research and collection of national costumes and other folkloric elements, their preservation and dissemination with exhibitions and publications of albums, books, digital discs, video cassettes, cd roms and dvds.

– The research and collection of folk dances and songs, their recording, faithful preservation and wider dissemination by organizing music hearings, celebrations and dance demonstrations.

– The organization of exhibitions of works of Greek folk art and the care for its prevalence.

– The organization of educational programs for learning Greek traditional dances, traditional music and instruments, costumes, traditional arts, and everything that promotes folk and intangible culture in general.

– The organization of seminars, conferences, presentations and lectures by Greek and foreign experts.

– The organization and operation of a national clothing manufacturing workshop

– The operation of weaving workshops and crafts in general that contribute to the preservation of folk art

– The operation of the Department of Philology, Historical Archives, Folklore, Museum Collections and Photography as well as the operation of the Museum and permanent and periodic exhibitions at the Lyceum and elsewhere.

– The systematic engagement, monitoring, organization of meetings, speeches, workshops, with issues related to human rights, women’s and children’s rights, gender equality and equality.

– The establishment of partnerships with other agencies for the purpose of creative employment of free time, in cultural activities that contribute to spiritual cultivation and the elevation of the human mind.

– The organization or co-organization or participation with other organizations in lifelong learning programs with the aim of providing education, with special care for the most vulnerable women, with the aim of ensuring their personal, social and professional development

– The systematic recording, preservation and dissemination of knowledge, skills, practices related to nature and the environment, traditional crafts and constructions, with an emphasis on those in which women have a dominant role, such as nutrition, gardening, weaving, sewing (incl. knitting, embroidery), etc.

– Participation in events aimed at promoting Greek tradition and cultural heritage inside and outside Greece.

– The organization and operation of a therapeutic gymnastics department.

– The organization or participation in actions related to the protection of the environment.
